This weekend Brandon and I were planning to head down to Island Park for the Fun Pursuit, but winter arrived this weekend, and the organizers canceled the event. So when we woke up this morning to 2 inches of snow in the front yard, we put on hiking boots and headed down up to Hyalite Canyon with Siena for a walk in the woods.
Siena loves hikes and snow, so she was in her happy zone tearing around the trail. I have to admit that even though I am a bit resentful that winter has arrived so early, the hike was beautiful and peaceful. I love how quiet the woods are when snow is falling. Snow hung on the branches of the trees and mist rose from Hyalite Reservoir.
Tomorrow I am embarking on a new journey. I have decided to ride the 60K Fat Pursuit in January. Even though I ride mountain bikes frequently, I am not fit enough to ride the event without training. Hence the next twelve weeks will be busy with structured riding and strength training.
I am looking forward to getting fitter, riding faster, and spending more time on my bikes during the next three months. Join me for updates on our YouTube Channel.
